Matt Ruff Biography

Matt has more than 30 years of experience in technology, including 20 years with printing companies and pre-press/digital pre-press companies. He letter as a football manager at Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas then off to TSTI in Waco Texas for a Technical Degree in Printing.

After seven years as Director of Technology and Systems at
Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, he started the Church Computer Service Association (CCSA) in 2009 to help churches and their ministries procure, use, and adopt all forms of technology that support the universal Church mission.

God had been training Matt to start CCSA for many years, even before Matt had the idea for the association. In every job he held, Matt was active in various professional associations, and he was founding Treasurer of what is now the Heidelberg Digital Imaging Association.

While at Quebecor Printing, the second largest printer in the world, he served as Director of Pre-Press Procurement. Over a several-year period, Matt consolidated pre-press purchases and saved Quebecor 8 to 10 million dollars a year. He saw first-hand the enormous cost savings that can be achieved by buying in large quantities. As he puts it, “If you buy a million of the same item you will get a better price than if you buy only a few of that item.”

During his years at Christ Community Church, his vision for CCSA began to crystallize. The church is a hub of some of the biggest names in Christian Music, and members/former members include
Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jars of Clay, and Steve Green. Yet the 50-member staff at Christ Community was using very outdated computer systems.

Matt began to see an opportunity to provide his expertise to churches of all sizes, helping them upgrade their technology and make it affordable for them to do so through the economies of scale that are realized through pooled purchases.

Matt makes his home on the outskirts of Nashville. He and his bride of 25 years have four children and 3 grandchildren. In his free time he helps his daughter Rachel, an International model, manage her digital world at RachelRuff.com. He also enjoys photography, playing with his grandchildren, and helping people use technology.
